Well ladies and gentlemen, it all comes down to this. After making some crazy radical changes to my life over the last several months and deciding that I want to jump head first into the triathlon scene, I make my season debut in the “Dickson Iron Nugget Sprint Triathlon” tomorrow morning!
This race consists of a .7 mile swim (open water), a 17 mile bike, and a 5k run. Doesn’t sound too terrible right? Well I planned this race by design to get the cobwebs out and get used to racing again before I go bigger the rest of the year.
People have been asking me if I’m nervous. Heck yeah I’m nervous! Excited, but nervous as well. This will be my first triathlon in 5 years and only my second race ever! Not to mention the swim is an open water swim which brings a whole new level of nerves to the playing field.
I just got done with my first gear check and it looks like I have everything in order!
Man that is alot of gear! There are so many things that you have to plan for getting ready for a race. It makes my head go cray cray.
My beautiful wife and baby girl will be heading out to the race with me and my wife will be taking lots of pictures so I should have an interesting, if not hilarious race post coming out tomorrow evening. I am so blessed to have a wife that supports me through all of my crazy ventures!
Enjoy your Cinco de Mayo and say a prayer for me as I flail around a lake in middle Tennessee.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
Sincerely,
